This design was inspired by all the students getting ready to go back to school. The begonia has had many different meanings throughout history. One of its symbols is of learning and deep thoughts, according to The Society of American Florists, and I couldn’t resist the striking foliage on this Begonia Rex ‘Escargot’ variety! For me, the spiraling leaf represents the ever-expanding knowledge a student gains through their studies.
Now you can bring this symbol of education into your home by making this double knit square. If you’re unfamiliar with double knitting, this small potholder is a great way to learn this knitting technique. Both sides are the same, except with reversed colors. You’ll get the accomplishment of finishing a beautiful project and the confidence of adding a new skill to your knitting basket.
With this instantly downloadable PDF pattern, you’ll have all the help you need to get started!
This pattern includes written instructions, a chart, and links to video tutorials for the invisible cast on, invisible bind off, slip stitch edging, and I-cord loop. You’ll end up with a professional looking finished project that you’ll be proud to give as a gift or keep and put on display.
