The instant I saw this beautiful yarn by Julie Asselin I knew I had to design something with it. I love fall and I love rivers and I love how this yarn encompasses all the colors of the season not just the typical ones associated with fall. Since it is speckled it had to be a fairly simple design as far as stitch pattern so I added interest with the construction. The sweater begins very much like a garter stitch tab shawl. And then to compliment the design I went with a sweat shirtstyle that is loose and comfortable, perfect for wearing on your glorious fall walks!

Sizes:

Materials:
Yarn: Julie Asselin Hektos; 75% merino wool, 15% cashmere, 10% silk; 200 yds/185m per 115g skein; color: Fall River, 6 (6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9, 9) skeins; 1010 (1075, 1140, 1280, 1380, 1445, 1600, 1685) yds/930 (995, 1055, 1185, 1275, 1335, 1480, 1560) m.
Needles: Size 6/4mm - 16”/40cm and 24”/60cm (or longer) circular needles and set of 4 or 5 double-pointed needles; Size 5/3.75mm & 4/3.5mm - 16”/40cm circular needles (for neckband)
Other: Stitch markers, stitch holders or waste yarn, tapestry needle.
Gauge: 17 sts and 26 rows/rnds = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette Stitch, with largest needles.

Notes: This sweater is constructed from the top down in one piece with raglan shaping. It starts with very small saddles, similar to a Garter tab cast-on for shawls, except they are worked in Reverse Stockinette stitch. Stitches are picked up around the saddles, and the back neck stitches are cast on between the saddles. It is worked flat until the front stitches are cast on and then it is worked in the round. The sweater is designed with 6 - 10”/15 – 25 cm of positive ease; choose your size according the amount of ease desired. The sleeves are also are designed to be loose-fitting. The length of both the body and sleeves can be easily adjusted. The hemmed collar is knit to twice its length, then turned under and stitched in place.
