This pattern is for a pair of ornately cabled socks. The focal cable itself is a Japanese cable that is just perfect for socks. The side cables also come to us from Japan. There’s enough “give” to make them comfortable, but enough unusual cabling to make them interesting to look at and fun to knit.

The back and the front of the socks are the same until the heel flap.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of knitting and purling, lace knitting and cabling).

The cable stitch is both charted and written out line by line.

This pattern is written for 2 circular needles and is written for sizes Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large, and is sized by gauge

The sock pictured here was made with Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock yarn, in colorway, Grapevine.

The socks shown in the sample were expertly test knitted by Phyllis Lederman who can be contacted at: phyllisgl@ verizon.net.
