A Place of Peace is my essence in a wrap: I always start with clean lines for inspiration, but can’t help adding flare!

We proudly present this pattern as part of the 10th Edition of Interpretations, the little collections I write every year with my best friend, Veera.

It is well known that knitting is one of the most powerful forms of meditation.
Knitting sets my hands and brains in motion, and as soon as I
pick up my needles I can feel my breathing getting slower, more
rhythmic and calm.
My body relaxes, and my attention comes to the repetitive
movement of my hands, both helping me release tension and
ease my mind. When the knitting is simple enough, I easily fall
into this trance or knitting state in which my movements become
mindless and my thoughts fade away.
This is one of my simplest, yet beautiful designs. It was born out of
a need for those moments of calm and meditation.
It combines stripes, texture and different fabrics for a minimalistic
and highly graphic look, which I finished with a myriad of tassels,
just as relaxing to make.

MATERIALS
YARN: Main Yarn: 2 skeins of Soft Fingering by Moondrake Co. (100% superwash merino; 440 yds 400 m per 100g) or approx. 800 yds 730 m of fingering weight yarn; 1 skein in Color 1, shown in Rose Quartz, and 1 skein in Color 2, shown in Rain Forest.
Mohair: 1 skein of Mohair Lace by Moondrake Co. (70% Kid Mohair, 30% Mulberry Silk; 420 m 460 yds per 50g) or 460 yds 420 m of lace weight yarn in Color 1, shown in Rose Quarz.
Note: This amount includes the yarn used for all the tassel embellishments, which accounts for about 35% of the total yarn usage.
NEEDLES: US 6 4 mm straight or circular needles.
NOTIONS: Tapestry needle, blocking aids and crochet hook to attach the tassels (a 5 mm one is ideal, but similar size will work).
