Amphitrite's Columns
Discontinued.
This digital pattern is no longer available online.
Amphitrite, sea goddess of ancient Greece, was wife of of the god Poseidon and, according to Pindar, Goddess of the Great Golden Spindle.
In this toe-up sock, I have combined these motifs in the columns of seaweed cables and Grecian-inspired centre cable that soars over the foot and up the leg.
This sock also features detailed instructions for a somewhat unusual heel construction, with a heel flap and inverse decreases that follow the curve of the heel rather than merely sit around it like most toe-up heels.
