Aah. The luxuries of a nice long bath with a soft hand knitted cotton wash cloth and soap holder!

You can make this easy to knit wash cloth and soap holder in your favorite color. Cotton is best for yarn choice, as it is a natural fiber and holds up well to use.

The simple design of this wash cloth makes it easy for beginner knitters, but because of the little “bumps” in the garter stitch, it’s perfect for scrubbing away your cares!

The soap holder is knitted flat and then sewn down the sides and across the bottom.

The pattern includes helpful YouTube videos as well as plenty of color photos so you know exactly what to do each step of the way.

Are you wanting some extra guidance in making your first project?
Would you like to make this as a special gift for a friend, but you’re unsure where to begin?

Project Details:

Size: Face Cloth - 8.5” x 8.5”; Soap Holder - 6” x 2.5”

150 yds (#4) medium weight yarn (I used “I Love This Cotton”)

Knitting Needles Size US 8 (5mm) - I used circular needles, but straight needles would work fine as well.

Yarn Needle for sewing in ends

Gauge: 18 stitches x 34 rows = 4” in garter stitch

Pattern notes:
The face cloth is knit flat, adding an I-cord at the end for a hanger loop.
The soap holder is also knit flat and then bottom and sides are sewn together creating a pocket for the soap. An I-cord is woven through the eyelet holes at the top of the soap holder to cinch the pocket shut.
