Irving Berlin is credited with composing Ragtime music and lyrics that were uncomplicated, simple and direct, with his stated aim being to “reach the heart of the average American.” We think that this delightfully straightforward poncho does the same. The pattern is created with an easily memorized 4 stitch, 2 row pattern that will have you singing along in no time.

Please note: The poncho is worked flat from side-to-side in one piece. It is divided at the neck, with front and back worked separately, then rejoined to work the other side. Front and back can be worked simultaneously using separate skeins.

The terms ‘back’ and ‘front’ are used for ease of reference; the poncho is reversible.

Resize by working in a different gauge, changing the st count by multiples of 8 (to alter length), and/ or working additional rows before and after the neck split (to alter width); size modifications will affect yarn requirements.
