There are so many things to love about this baby blanket – its unique design, its elegant look, its lightweight drape – to name a few. Made with a DK weight yarn, in this case Paintbox Yarns “Simply DK”, the blanket can be used in any season. And, the 100% acrylic yarn means it’s durable and easy to care for.

The block stitch is such an unusual stitch for a baby blanket because of its angular look. Normally, the block stitch is worked in rows. Here, it’s been adapted to be worked in the round for a beautiful alternative to the traditional granny square design. The blanket works up quickly and is relaxing to make.

Yarn: Any DK weight will do. Choose a neutral for the main color (3 skeins) and an eye-popping contrasting color (1 skein) for the greatest visual impact. Or, use your imagination!
