Summer knitting is for those transitional pieces that will take you from spring’s end to early fall -- and through the office air conditioning in between. Brennan is the perfect little cardigan for the task. It is a circular yoke construction, knit from the bottom up, with sleeves worked in the round. Dart shaping on the front and back of the bodice give it a lovely feminine shape. Finishing is minimal, requiring only seaming or grafting under the arms, where the sleeves meet the body.

The cardigan sample is shown in Shalimar Yarns Breathless DK in the “Last Dance” colorway. Brennan is suitable for intermediate knitters or the intrepid advanced beginner. Please see specific required skills below. Instructions are both written and charted. The pattern has been professionally tech edited to reduce the possibility for error, but if you have questions or believe that you have found an error, please contact me.

construction
The body and self-finishing button band are worked flat in one piece from the hem to the armholes, where stitches are bound off or reserved for grafting at each armhole, depending on preference. The remaining live stitches are placed on waste yarn. The sleeves are worked in the round from the cuff to the armhole, where stitches are bound off or reserved at the underarm. The remaining live stitches are placed on waste yarn. The body and sleeves are then joined together on one needle and worked back and forth in rows at the yoke. The underarms may be seamed or grafted using kitchener stitch. No other finishing is required.
