Caim
caim (n): “Sanctuary”; an invisible circle of protection, drawn around the body with the hand, to remind one of being safe and loved, even in the darkest times.
This snug hat has a ribbed brim and is worked from the bottom up. The alternating cable and mesh panels make it a quick and fun knit.
Finished Measurements: Length: 8.5” (21cm), Circumference at brim: 18” (46cm) unstretched.
Yarn: 1 skein of Arranmore (175yds/160m, 80% merino/10% cashmere/10% silk, 100g) or approx. 175yds/160m in Aran weight yarn. Shown in colourway River Esque.
Needles: US size 2.5 (3mm) circular needles (or dpns) for ribbing and straight needles (if required) for long tail tubular cast on.
US size 6 (4mm) circular needles (or dpns).
Notions: Stitch markers (if required).
Gauge:
On 3mm, 22 sts and 36 rows = 4” (10cm) in 1x1 rib (unstretched) after blocking.
On 4mm, 20 sts of 1 cable panel = 1.75” (4.5cm)
On 4mm, 16 sts of 1 mesh panel = 4” (10cm)
