Ceratium Cornutum
Ceratium Cornutum is a modified Kite (triangle) shawl shaped by increases and short rows featuring lace and stockinette stitch.
This pattern has been inspired by the illustration of the species Ceratium Cornutum (Slide #14: Peridinium, No. 7) in Ernst Haeckel’s book Kunstformen der Natur.
It is part of the Knitting Art Forms of Nature project.
Finished Size
55 x 47 in (140 x 120 cm) after blocking
Notes
The central spine stitch is used as an orientation point during the whole pattern. It can easily be identified, please see the picture below to know what to look out for. You could use a stitch marker, but I discourage this as this marker would have to be moved around every right side row which I find annoying - but it’s totally up to you.
