Cowled Capelet
Three versions provide multiple options: a hooded necklet for collar-like warmth, a hooded capelet as defense against winter’s bluster or a cowled capelet to add drama to even the biggest chill.
View 1 is knit on size 11 US/ 8mm circular needles while views 2&3 use size 13 US/9mm needles. All views suggest a mix of angora, mohair, silk and wool, though most worsted-weight or sport yarns doubled work for this design. Choose rich coppery reds, as in versions 1 & 3, version 2’s tapestry meld of purples, olives and teal or your own color scheme. My forage list suggests variations. Seed stitch, knit and purl with one row of yarnover along the bottom edge are the only stitches used to create a gorgeous layer of warmth.
A dangle front and back helps anchor the capelet securely while creating a flattering dip.
