Diamond Head

Gauge swatch is done by making a square using Chart A. It should measure 3” on the diagonal (along center decreases.
This design originally appeared in Knitter’s Magazine, Issue 63, Summer 2001.

Sizes S/M. Finished circumference 21”/24”
Choose a great yarn and you cannot go wrong. When I first saw Horst Schulz’s work, I thought it’d be fun to make a simple hat. As I worked, I kept thinking that shaping the diamonds would present interesting design opportunities. The concept I followed is simple. An added decrease in the upper level squares would shrink the diamonds in size, and shape the crown of the hat. It worked! -- David Xenakis
