This fingering weight shawlette begins with a simple diamond lace edging, knit separately from end to end, then the body of the crescent shaped shawlette is picked up and knit using short row shaping.

It was named Diamonds in the Sea because of the optional crystal beads along the diamond border and the use of a vivid ocean inspired colorway, Mermaid Lagoon. It’s also lovely in the second colorway, Birds in Paradise (and could be called Diamonds in Paradise - you pick the name). Any fingering weight yarn will work - but Alpaca or Alpaca blend gives it warmth, drape and a small halo.

The use of the optional beads placement is identified in the charted and written pattern. (they don’t show up particularly well in the photos)

Uses 3 skeins of Knit Picks Imagination yarn in Mermaid Lagoon, or 2 skeins of Misti International, Inc - Misty Alpaca
