This is a pattern for a true alpine cabled scarf (as opposed to Aran cabling, which is the more familiar way of cabling). The knit stitches are knit primarily through the back loop, and although the scarf is not reversible, it is cabled on both sides. It is centered with a turtleneck that will keep you warm in spite of the lighter weight yarn.

Skill Level: Intermediate - Intermediate + (assuming a good working knowledge of knitting, purling and a very good knowledge of cabling)

The pattern is charted only. There are also instructions for an optional crocheted border, should you like on.

The scarf was expertly test knitted by Beverly Long, who can be reached at: Blong39@hotmail.com
