These socks may not have adorned an Edwardian foot, but they are inspired by the sporting delights of the Edwardian summer. Little rowers floating gracefully down the leg, interspersed with a softly skipping linen stitch, make for rather splendid knitting on the river. Or, indeed, while basking in the summer sun on a week day with a cheeky afternoon Pimms.

These socks were designed with variegated yarns in mind, from the rowers that float down the leg and foot, to the unusual linen stitch heel. This heel results in a firm fabric that settles itself snugly around the heel. However, as some people might be wary of such a firm heel, instructions for an alternative ribbed heel have also been provided.

’Edwardian Boating Socks’ is the fourteenth pattern to be released under the Loumms Year of Socks. Check out our website for more Loummsy offerings!
