In Barcelona, El Born is an old neighborhood filled with narrow streets where sunlight filters down between the tall buildings. The long curve of the shawl, alternating and expanding bands of dark and light, and a lace edging reminiscent of iron work all evoke memories of wandering in that area.

Worked from the top down in garter stitch, a generous band of lace edges the shawl. Little picots are spaced long the bind off to accent the legs of each lace arch.

The finished wingspan of the crescent is 60.5” after blocking, a perfect size for wrapping and styling around your shoulders.

You will need two skeins, one of each color, of fingering weight yarn. The sample here is shown in Tosh Merino Light in Woodstock (brown) and Daffodil (gold).

A US size 5 (3.75mm) 32” circular needle and two removable stitch markers are all the tools you will need.

As always, many thanks to Katherine Vaughan for her tech editing.
