Since an early age, Eleanor Roosevelt (October 11, 1884 – November 7, 1962 ) has shown much compassion and passion for equality. In the early 1920s, she worked with the Women’s Trade Union League to advocate for women’s and workers rights to establish a reasonable work week, minimum wage and to abolish child labor.

As First Lady from 1933-1945, she was very vocal in her support of the civil rights movement and opportunities for minorities and women.

Throughout the rest of her life, Mrs. Roosevelt continued to play a very important role in domestic and international politics and in advancing human rights. She also served as a delegate to the United Nations. Her work in human rights has earned her many honorary degrees, awards and accolades.
