Entrelacé means intertwined, as in the cables you will be knitting for our mystery KAL. Unlike most of my patterns, you will find no lace here! Instead of open and light, think cozy and warm. This shawl will be perfect for fall and winter weather. Knit it for yourself, or as a holiday gift.

This shawl comes in two sizes, both of which are crescent shaped. The DK/Sport weight version is a more shallow crescent than the Aran/Worsted version. There are also two edging options for the neck area of this shawl.

Aran/Worsted:
Width, inches: 66, Depth, inches: 15, Approximate gauge in stockinette: 4 sts per inch, Needle size: Try US 7 or 8

DK/Sport:
Width, inches: 72, Depth, inches: 12, Approximate gauge in stockinette: 4.5 sts per inch, Needle size: Try US 5 or 6

Both versions of the shawl take approximately 600 yards of yarn for the plain neckline. Add 50 yards for the cabled neckline to be safe! Choose any color that you enjoy wearing and working with.

You may knit Clues 1 & 2 with a different (but coordinating) yarn than clues 3 & most of clue 4. The second yarn (for clue 3 & and the first part of clue 4) may be variegated. Clues 1 & 2 should probably not be knitted in variegated yarn. Clues 1 & 2 use nearly half of the yarn for the DK/Sport version, or just over a third of the yarn for the Aran/Worsted version. Play it safe and get extra yarn if you are planning on a two color shawl!

Note that my model is a size XS to S who is 5’5.5”. I have included a photo of myself at the bottom so that you can see how this shawl looks on a plus sized, tall woman of 5’8” (2X).
