Excitement Cowl
This exciting cowl has a nice curve both at the top and at the bottom edges and looks like a shawl when worn. That is very convenient when you do not have to care about shawl tips getting into your food.
In my home country, Lithuania, some river islands are called love islands. Maybe all of them are: if they can be accessed by water only, they can serve as a cover when a couple is searching for intimacy.
The knitting starts at the top with just a few stitches. The stockinette body is worked flat and then joined to knit in the round and to work the “rivers” and “love islands”. The cowl is designed for fingering weight yarn and features some easy lace mesh, German short rows and picot bind off. All this makes the knit suitable for an adventurous beginner, but also interesting to knitters of all skill levels.
The pattern is fully written out, a chart for working short rows is included.
For information about sizes, measurements and yarn requirements please check the second page of the pattern located among the photos on the left.
Excitement Cowl is one of 14 patterns of 2017 Progress, Hope, & Happiness Collection (all patterns are sold individually).
I asked test knitters what they would like to tell about the pattern and the finished cowl to other knitters and here are some of their answers:
echeverialaui It was tv-knitting in most parts after the first repeat. I like the finished cowl both in size and shape very much and love to wear it with the longest and shortest side each placed on one shoulder.
Vaida A perfect accessory! Easy and comfortable to wear — and so feminine.
Rutast Perfect and interesting and so fun to knit! Suits for using leftovers.
akshata A few simple stitches turn into a unique lovely cowl. Easy for a beginner too :)
kbhallman This is a fun project and the meadows and islands would work for just about any yarn — solid, tonal, speckle, variegated, gradient. A sparkly yarn would great for the rivers. Beads on the picots would be adorable. It can be playful, casually understated, or glamorous — it will all depend on the yarn choices.
