This is a great beginner felting pattern, all you need to know is the knit and purl stitch, simple increases and decreases and how to knit in the round. You can knit the hat plain or add a mosaic, either way this hat has an unfloppable brim, unfloppability has become a big issue with me here lately, and can be made for any size head: baby to big folk.

Must use “feltable fiber” - this is animal fiber that is not “washable”, meaning it will shrink if you you wash it :)

These hats are knitted in two sizes: Big/Adult (22-23 inches around) and Little/Baby (16 inches around). If you want a bigger circumference or deeper hat, you can either take it out of the wash sooner (which will give a slight increase), or knit a swatch (eek) and do the math (double eek) to increase the size and depth.
Toddler’s and children’s heads are big (boy, don’t we know that) and the two sizes will work for them also, just felt the Little Size for a shorter time or the Bigger Size for a longer time and use the smaller brim directions.

The hat can be knitted in a solid color or embellished with a slip stitch mosaic band: colors needed - A is your main color as above, B-5 yards, C-5 yards, D-13 yards
