“And so, the little leaf flew far—O far,
Out to the place where the blue hills are.
It took the wind’s hand, and on it went;
All was so new—it was quite content
To go far away from the mother tree
And find where the little brook found the sea.”
~by Annette Wynne

Foliosa Shawl is a romantic and dreamy combination of lacy flowers and airy little leaves in the form of a crescent shawl. It’s very interesting to make and once you BO your last stitch, it will transform into a show-stopper for sure!

The shawl was 100% created by me for you: from the very first CO stitch to the drop of dye in my pots. If you wish to make it exactly the same as me, get the Foliosa yarn kit from my small online shop.

The shawl begins at the top center and is worked outwards to the border. The shawl is worked in alternating sections of Garter stitch, twisted ribbing, and lace.
The lacy border is worked sideways at the end and knitted on to the body.

Size
One: approx. 180 cm/72” wide and 55 cm/22” long at center.

Yarn
2 skeins of Goya Merino by Cecily Grove Yarns (100% merino; 400m/437y per 100g) or any other fingering weight yarn which gives you the correct gauge. Shown in colorway Nostalgia.

Needles
3.5 mm/US #4 circular needle (100 cm/40” long), or size needed for gauge.

Other
2 stitch markers, 2 cable needles, tapestry needle for weaving.

Gauge
22 sts and 34 rows = 10 cm/4” in St st measured flat after wet blocking.
The gauge isn’t crucial on this project, but differences will affect the finished size as well as the required yardage, so I strongly recommend making a swatch and adjusting the needle size as necessary.
