From Knitty:

Oh, how many ways are there to clothe a hand? The ways to make a covering for hands with needles and string must be practically endless, and we hope this one will lull you into a sense of security as there are no double-pointed needles or circular knitting of any kind.

These gloves are knit from beginning to end on straight needles, and then crocheted together at the end. As they are worked, they look like a dog’s breakfast, but they come together in the end … just relax, take a deep breath, and trust us.

Unfortunately, Rowan Rowanspun 4 Ply is no longer available, but Rowan Scottish Tweed 4 Ply or any other tweedy, sock-weight yarn would be a good substitute.

Instructions are included for both garter stitch and ribbed cuffs. The gloves shown have garter stitch cuffs.
