This pattern is inspired by the colours of the beautiful kettle dyed yarn – I really wanted a pattern plain enough to show them off, but with an added twist to make them more interesting. Although I’m pretty finicky about things matching and being even, I was strangely attracted to the asymmetrical cable pattern. Further, I really wanted these socks to be ideal for both men and women. I can see the men in my family wearing these just as happily as the women! The name comes from the Lake District, which played a big part in my childhood, and continues to inspire me.
