Starting with a garter tab this semicircular, top-down, garter stitch– based shawl will get you comfortable with laceweight yarn and a variety of techniques. You’ve worked with the wrapped stitches skills learned in the first chapter, yarn overs from the second chapter, and finally, it’s time to add the beads!

This shawl is a perfect marriage of gradient yarn, elongated stitches, and beads. I designed my first semicircular shawl for my lace class with Craftsy.com, and have become enamored of its shaping ever since. Each section flows into the next so you never get bored with the knitting as it’s constantly changing. All knitting should be like this! I adore the bottom edge with beads slipped up between the stitches on the wave stitch! What is your favorite part?
