Hearty Hippo
This is a knitting pattern for a Hearty Hippo stuffed toy. The head and ears are knitted flat (back and forth), but the body, legs and arms are knitted in the round on double pointed needles. The small heart on the chest is embroidered after the hippo is finished using a duplicate knit stitch.
MATERIALS: bright pink DK yarn - approximately: 30 - 40 g
A handful of lilac DK yarn used on legs and arms.
KNITTING GAUGE:
24 sts and 28 rows to 10 x 10 cm = 4” x 4” in stocking stitch (knit row on right side, purl row on wrong side) and 2.5 mm needles.
Gauge is not critical for this project. Work tight enough to ensure that the stuffing will not show through the stitches.
