When a knitter has insomnia, shawl blocking happens at 2 AM and shawl designing begins at 2:15 AM. That’s when the Insomnia Shawl was born.

Worked in two colors of sport weight yarn, the Line section is worked in a rhythmic, intuitive stitch that is calming to work on those tired days following rough nights.

Started at the tip and worked towards the base, the Honeycomb section (no cabling involved) is worked in a second color. The asymmetric shape lays easily around your shoulders and neck.

The instructions are written and charted.

The finished size is a wingspan of 59” after blocking and a back length of 22” after blocking.

You will need:

  • 344 yards of sport weight yarn in Main Color

  • 170 yards of sport weight yarn in Contrast Color The sample shown is worked in Mad Hatter by Frabjous Fibers in Messenger Kit #4, Tugley Wood (Main Color) and Sleeping Gryphon (Contrast Color)

  • A US size 6 (4mm) 32” circular needle Gauge is not crucial. Use a needle size that gives you a fabric that you like, but be aware that a change in gauge can affect the amount of yarn used and the size of the finished shawl.
