Going trick-or-treating this Halloween? These fabulously creepy-crawly fingerless mittens will keep your hand warm in the chilly fright night air, while leaving your fingers free to open candy wrappers (or perhaps make some mischief?). They can be knit in the classic Halloween colours as shown, or in any other colour combination for year-round wear. Spiders for any occasion!

These fingerless mittens are knitted in two colours from the cuff upward. The spider pattern on the front of the mittens is created using a combination of slipped and twisted stitches. Since only one colour of yarn is used each row, this is a much easier way of creating two-colour patterns than stranded knitting. It also requires less yarn and produces a stretchier, less dense fabric, which is perfect for lightweight, flexible fingerless mittens.

The pattern gives instructions and charts for medium sized ladies mittens. The size can easily be adjusted by using differently sized needles; 2.25mm for smaller mittens, 2.75 for larger ones.

Please note that written instructions are given for shaping the mittens, however the spider stitch pattern is in chart form only.
