Worked on the bias in three colors, Leithgow works up quickly. The textured stitch is easy to memorize, and the finished scarf has a beautiful drape.

The color blocking has endless possibilities: subtle or bold, blocks of color or bands of stripes. It’s also easily adapted to different weights of yarn.

You will need 231 yards of each of three colors, if working the pattern as shown. The sample is worked in Knit Picks Palette in Sea Grass, Oyster Heather, and Silver.

The scarf is worked on US size 5 (3.75mm) needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. Exact gauge is not crucial. Use a needle size that gives you a fabric that you like, but be aware that a change in gauge can affect the amount of yarn used and the size of the finished scarf.

Skills needed are: knit, purl, k2tog (knit 2 together) and m1 (make one).
