Morgan
Morgan is an open-style, drop-shoulder cardigan featuring a hi/lo split hem, textured slip stitch pattern, and pops of contrasting color in the hem and sleeves.
Instructions include options for either worsted-weight or sport/DK-weight! AND, you can also choose between long-sleeves and vest-sleeves!
Because you have 2 different yarn weights to choose from, in the photos I knit the worsted-weight in Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca and the sport/DK-weight in Ultra Alpaca Light.
Pattern includes 12 sizes to pick from, ranging in finished size from 37.5-75.5”. Pattern also includes a thorough “tips” page which includes tips and tutorials for these techniques and more:
- How to pick a size to knit
- Yarn option ideas (including pictures of swatches of a variety of different yarns)
- Swatching tips
- Video on how to work the stitch pattern and how to ‘read your knitting’
- Photo tutorial of split hem technique
- And lots more - I include a tutorial for every technique used!
Whether you knit the worsted or sport/dk version, and whether you choose to add sleeves or wear it like a vest, Morgan is a great layering piece with lots of options that’s you’ll enjoy knitting as much as wearing. PICKING YOUR SIZE: I suggest picking a size whose “finished circumference” is approx 8-12”/20-30 cm larger than your actual bust/chest measurement, depending on desired fit (drop shoulder garments such as this require more positive ease than
other types of sweater constructions). Shown in size 3, being worn with approx 10-11”/25-28 cm of positive ease at the bust. Visit my tips page (link in pattern) for more info about how to pick a size.
