Oceans of Knits and Purls
Mary ann Hadryan says: “ This vest is made of simple knit and purl patterns. Its allover texture creates a flat fabric that requires minimum finishing details and can be knit in no time at all. When I was designing, I began to discover the stitch pattern’s meanings, and it all came together for me. The waves and zigzags relate to the ocean and the garter stitch represents ridges of sand on the beach. Having recently moved to the landlocked state of Tennessee, I appreciate even more time spent near the ocean visiting friends on Martha’s Vineyard. I’ve even spent sunny fall days knitting on the beaches with not another soul in sight.”
