Entrelac is a technique that lets you join triangles and rectangles as you knit. These triangles and rectangles are worked in opposing, slanted tiers that give a woven look to your knitting. Basic skills needed to work entrelac include: picking up stitches, increasing by knitting into the same stitch twice, and decreasing by slipping two stitches knitwise and then knitting them together.

Think of this pattern as a formula that will enable you to use any yarn/gauge, and to change size from a cowl to a loop scarf to a shawl to a blanket. Simply by adding or subtracting the same number of stitches to the triangles and rectangles you’ll alter their size, and your finished piece. No math, no adjustment in construction steps except for the number of rows you may need to work to complete your triangles and rectangles.
