Yet another top-down beanie hat worked in rib. This time the hat was inspired by one of the red hats worn by Jacques Cousteau. The increase stitches are grouped to create a hat with a small peak in the centre of the crown and a hat, which is fun to shape. The hat looks as if it is knitted in k1tbl, p1tbl rib but it is in fact worked in the easier and loftier k1tbl, p1 rib.

The model tried on the original red hat knitted from the attached pattern
(a large adult hat) and wanted a hat the same size. The hat shown has an unstretched circumference of 56 cm (22in) and measures 35cm (14in) from the cast on to cast off.
