This scarf is knit with 2 strands of yarn held together throughout. The scarf uses 7 basic colors and there are multiple color changes from Goldenrod on one end to Teal on the other. In order for the ends to be the same, the scarf is knit in 2 halves and then joined with Kitchener stitch (an internet address for a great tutorial on knitty.com is included in the pattern).
In addition, feathers are added for whimsy and extra interest. After all, swans do have feathers. For more information about knitting with feathers, email knittingwithfeathers@aol.com
