Sunflower is a medium sized doily with a beaded center. This pattern was designed for yarns with long color changes, but looks great in solid colors too. Sunflower has ten petals, like the flower for which it is named.

This pattern is recommended for experienced beginners to intermediate knitters. It has two charts and includes beading. You may omit the beads, or add even more, as you prefer. Some knitters have added beads down the center of each petal, and others to the bind off edge of the doily. Sunflower is knitted in the round, with yarn overs and two types of decreases. Sunflower needs a stretchy bind-off. Both written and charted instructions are included.

Maximum width of this doily is 19” or 48 cm using fingering weight yarn. Size will vary depending upon your yarn weight, needle size, and knitting gauge. How tightly you block the doily will also affect its final size.

Supplies needed include:
5 double pointed needles, approximately US size 2 - 4, 2.75 - 3.50 mm, depending upon your gauge
Circular needle, short length, in the same size as the double pointed needles
Stitch marker, optional, but useful if you are using circular needles
Fingering weight yarn, under 175 yards or 160 meters
50 E beads to coordinate with your yarn
Size 12 steel crochet hook, or 1 mm, used for beading only
Needle for weaving in yarn ends

While you cannot make or sell copies of this pattern, you do have permission to sell your completed doilies.
