Sweet Niggles Socks
I came across this stitch pattern, which is actually called Little Dots, in one of Barbara G. Walkers stitch pattern books. I decided to try doing it in 2 colors and found the results so fascinating I had to write a sock pattern for it.
This sock pattern is surprisingly easy to knit. It’s in two sizes, Ladies Medium and Large, or you could say the second size is a Mens Medium. The socks feature a 1x1 ribbed cuff, a heel stitch flap, Half Handkerchief turned heel, and a Wedge style toe. The 2-color striped stitch pattern is incredibly easy. You’ll be surprised by it.
Any fingering weight sock yarn will work for this pattern. It works best with widely contrasting yarns, variegated and/or solid. The medium will use about 300 yards of main color and about 150 yards of contrasting color yarn. The Large (Mens medium) uses about 350 yards for main color and 200 yards for contrasting color.
This pattern is written for 2 circular needles, but can easily be converted to other methods. The stitch pattern is stretchy. I know it looks like a slip stitch pattern, but it isn’t. To adjust the width, do so by a factor of 4 sts
This would be a good pattern for those who are starting their first foray into knitting with more than one color.
The file is in PDF format, 4 pages, and only 516K so it should download fast.
