Learning new skills can be intimidating, especially for a newer knitter. If you are looking to expand your skills, the Confidence Cowl could be for you. This advanced beginner project provides practice in knit and purl stitches, colorwork, and combining knit and purl stitches into simple patterns. The Confidence Cowl is worked flat in five color blocks with a sixth color providing a contrasting stripe between blocks. Each block has a unique stitch pattern. To connect the flat work, you have the option of a traditional cast-on and a sewn seam or a provisional cast-on and 3-needle bind-off. Knit in Teton Yarn Company’s beautiful Hand-Dyed Mountain Sock Yarn, this cowl is simple but far from boring. Knitting the Confidence Cowl will help you reinforce your skills and help you build confidence in yourself as a knitter.

This cowl requires about 350 yards (320 meters) total of fingering weight yarn. Six 20-gram mini skeins in six colors.

Special thanks to Sarah Kain from the Teton Yarn Company for the yarn support. Her colors are beautiful and the yarn has the most luscious hand. For the sample, I used one set of 6 mini skeins (522 yards/120 grams) - Teton Yarn Company Hand-Dyed Mountain Sock Yarn in colorways Driftwood (Color 1), Harvest (Color 2), Moss (Color 3), Cedar (Color 4), Deadwood (Color 5), and Potion (Color 6).
