ABOUT THE PATTERN
The Twisted Cables Hat is an interesting and surprisingly easy-to-memorize cabled hat pattern, worked in the round from brim to crown. The highly adaptive nature of the ribbing makes it perfect for gift knitting.
Instructions are written and charted for your convenience, and includes directions for a non-slouchy hat.
FINISHED SIZES
Baby (Toddler, Child) [Adult S, M, L] to fit head with 15 (17, 19) [21, 22.5, 24] in/37.5 (42.5, 47.5) [52.5, 56, 60] cm circumference.
YARDAGE
Slouchy version: 160 (180, 200) [220, 240, 260] yd/150 (160, 180) [200, 220, 240] m of sport weight yarn.
Non- slouchy version: 120 (140, 150) [170, 180, 200] yd/110 (120, 140) [150, 170, 180] m of sport weight yarn.
Sample features Lanabel Lana Pura 100% sheep wool 300m/100g (328 yd/3.5 oz) in colorway Gris shown in size Adult M.
NEEDLES
4 mm/US 6 circular needles with 40 cm/16 in cable length, or size needed to obtain gauge;
4 mm/US 6 circular needles, double pointed needles, or preferred method for knitting small circumferences in the round, or size needed to obtain gauge.
NOTIONS & TOOLS
blocking tools of your preference, cable needle, scissors, stitch markers (one in contrast colour for BOR), tapestry needle
GAUGE
9 stitches x 7 rows in 1 in/2.5cm after blocking in 1x1 twisted ribbing unstretched.
1 cable repeat is 2 in/5 cm wide and 1.75 in/4 cm tall.
Changes in gauge will affect your yardage requirements.
This pattern has been tech-edited and test knitted.
