The Universal Catharina Lace Design uses a basic lace motif. It may be used for any sized project, using your favorite yarn and needles. Knit in the round, this design begins with just eight stitches. On each pattern round, the odd-numbered rounds, eight stitches are increased; each even- number round is a plain knit round – no increases, no pattern stitches. The Catharina lace motif is a repeating motif, just eighteen stitches wide and eighteen rows high, consisting of yarnovers and simple decreases.
