Vulcan Bomber Shawl (For The Love Of George)

The best way to describe George would be to use the words of his wife, (one of my best friends) Tracey aka MrsBiker.

On the 6th of October 2012 my gorgeous husband, George, died.He had suffered a subarrachnoid haemorrage on the 5th of October and he never regained consciousness.He was 56 years old.
George was my best friend and my soul mate.
We had been married over 27 years.I love him and I miss him with every fibre of my being.

They have one son Martyn who George doted on and taught him how to be a fine young man.

Georges passions in life other than his family and friends where his motor bikes and Vulcan Bombers.

I have hopefully mixed both styles to make a flat biker scarf that can be worn easily either on top of or under a jacket.

Most of the proceeds of this pattern (other than running costs) will be donated to Georges favourite charity:

’Vulcan to the Sky’

I personally want to thank Tracey, Martyn and Rachel (Martyns partner), for being brave enough to let this novice do two patterns. Their strength through this tough time has been amazing, and their encouragement treasured.

I also want to thank Joy of theknittinggoddess.co.uk for her wonderful generosity of donating her wonderful yarn for me to use.

I also want to say thank you to Connor (my son), for being a not so willing model in the past to a willing model for this special pattern.

Stitch detail;

valve Stitch, moss stitch and rib. The Valve stitch runs through the middle of the neck piece.

A beginner should be able to do this pattern and there are photo’s on how to do Valve Stitch.
