Weinig Wortel
This whimsical hat, designed with my Dutch friend Judith, and her redhead husband in mind (the name means “little carrot” in Dutch and is pronounced VINE-igg VOR-tull), uses a surprisingly simple Estonian technique called vikkel braid to add texture to the finished result, and interest for the knitter.
Materials:
MC Three Irish Girls Galenas Merino 100% merino wool; 220yds/201m per 100g skein; color: Kieran; 1 skein
CC Curious Creek Fibers Kilimanjaro 95% mohair, 5% nyllon;
121yds/111m per 100g skein; color: Tilting the Gizmo; 1 skein
Set of five US #5/3.75mm double-point needles
