Legolas, one of the nine members of the Fellowship, is a Silvan Elf. From a kingdom located in Mirkwood in the Woodland Realm, Silvan Elves are descendants of Avarin and Nandorin Elves and are considered the most dangerous type of Elf. A master archer and prince, Legolas (Silvan for “greenleaf”) brings his skills with a bow and arrow, lightness of foot, exceptional eyesight, and superb hearing to the group, often leading the group as its “eyes and ears.” Despite their fathers’ dislike for each other, Legolas and Gimli become unlikely friends, traveling together until their final journey many years later to the Undying Lands.

Wrap a bit of Mirkwood flora around your neck when wearing this botanically inspired cowl. Worked in the round seamlessly and flanked by garter edges, twisted stitches and buds on a backdrop of reverse stockinette dance across this cowl. Woodland buds are created by cabling and decreasing simultaneously. Worked the long way, it’s easy to add more height with additional repeats. Wear it on your next adventure!
