I came up with this pattern to use for charity knitting. I make a lot of baby layette sets and wanted a cardigan that was a little more masculin for baby boys.

I am a life long Star Trek fan. It seems only right I have Star Trek socks. They are done in Captain Picard Red, but there’s no reason why a person couldn’t do them in Captain Kirk gold, Spock blue, or even Deanna Trois lavender. Or perhaps you’d rather have Gorn green. Whatever the color you choose, I hope you enjoy these socks.

The name of these socks was inspired by the color of the yarn I was using, and a fond memory of swimming in cenotes in Mexico. Cenotes are fresh water lakes made by the collapse of underground caves and then filling up with ground water. There are many of them on the Yucatan peninsula, and the water is as blue as these socks.

I wanted to make a pair of chocolate brown socks for my new son-in-law, Frank, for Christmas, preferably with some kind of cable stitch in them. I just love this tiny little twisted stitch cable pattern. It’s super simple to remember, works up very quickly, and doesn’t require cable needles to cross them.

I started designing these socks while I was on vacation in Mexico, which turned out to be the best vacation of my life. The stitch pattern I used for them is Quilted Lattice from Barbara Walkers Treasury of Knitting Patterns Vol. 1. Thus, the name.

I call these the Happiness socks because they made me so happy while I was making them. I made them for a photo contest that is being held during the Summer of Socks ‘08 knit along. I hauled these socks up into the north Idaho mountains in search of the perfect ‘Vacation Sock’ photo. I had a blast doing it too.

This is a really easy pattern using worsted weight yarn that I use to teach beginning knitters. You learn how to cast on, knit, and purl, but no binding off, though if you wanted to bind off, then thread a yarn in the edge stitches to gather the top, you certainly can. Techniques used are stockinette stitch, K2tog decrease, and ribbing.

This extra warm hat also doubles as a scarf.

This is a very simple pattern in garter stitch. It even fringes itself as you knit. Great for using up leftover bits in the stash. Use your imagination for colors in this poncho.
