Di Gilpin
I am a designer, maker and wool lover.
I work from my knitting studio in Fife, which is in a beautiful steading on Comielaw Farm. Outside of the studio I enjoy travelling around the Scottish countryside, taking in the textures and colours that inform my work and researching the history and folklore that goes into each piece. I have a fabulous team working with me, including Sheila Greenwell, who helps develop patterns and looks after our knitting group.
Our yarn, Di Gilpin Lalland Lambswool, is made in Scotland and finished(balled) in Yorkshire. It is a light weight DK…with a special double double twist..which gives great stitch definition. It knits beautifully in Fair Isle, Gansey, Lace, Cable and has a great texture. It can also be knitted 2 strands together to make an aran weight wool.
We have also developed a fabulous new yarn, Saorse, 80% fleece from our neighbour, Claddach Farm and 20% cashmere. It is a light golden colour with a fabulous handle and we plan to hand dye naturally batches this summer!
I love hearing from all knitters and many ravelry members have visited us already. Visit our website at http://www.digilpin.com or catch up with us on our Facebook page.
Best wishes and happy knitting to you all,
Di x
