2 Shaped Headbands
About the Design:
These 2 headband designs are from my Curvaceous Cables Collection - How to Shape a Cable’s Inner and Outer Edges. The curving outer edges add visual interest to a quick-to-knit accessory.
This pattern can be knit with heavy worsted, bulky or super bulky wt yarns, giving lots of options!
Gauges for Raveled Braid:
14 sts and 18 rows = 4” (10 cm) / 10 sts and 14 rows = 4” in Stockinette with 2 strands yarn held together and size 11 / 13 ndls.
Gauges for Enclosed Cable II:
Samples 1 and 2: 4.5 sts and 7 rows = 1Ó (2.5 cm) in Stockinette with size 8 ndls
Sample 1 - Garden Yarns Cashmere (no longer available), 100% cashmere, approx 100 yd / 2 oz hank: 1 hank Mushroom
Note: any 8 ply heavy worsted wt cashmere or BFL yarn should work.
Sample 2 - Goddess Yarns Emmanuella, 100% merino wool, approx 90 yd / 50 gr ball: 1 ball #8127 Ice Blue
Sample 3: 3.5 sts and 5 rows = 1” (2.5 cm) in Stockinette with size 10 ndls
Sample 4: 3.5 sts and 4.75 rows = 1” (2.5 cm) in Stockinette with 2 strands yarn and size 10.5 ndls or size to give gauge. To save time, take time to check gauge.
Raveled Braid Finished Dimensions: Samples 1 and 2 / Sample 3
Width at widest point: 3 / 4.5”
Width at narrowest point: 2 / 2.75” Circumference: 18 / 21”
Enclosed Cable II Finished Dimensions:
Samples 1 and 2 / Sample 3 / Sample 4
Width at widest point: 2.5 / 3.5 / 3”
Width at narrowest point: 2 / 2/5 / 2”
Length (unstretched): 18 / 21 / 20.5”
