Use either a chunky yarn, or 2 strands of ww yarn.
Easy pattern as each section is worked separately, so it is very easy to check periodically to see if the size is correct.

2 STRANDS OF WW YARN, (or 1 strand of Bernat Softee Chunky yarn)
(Approx. amount of yarn as it will depend on how long the sweater is made.)
XS: 1200 yds ww (600 yds chunky yarn); XS: 1300 yds ww (650 yds chunky yarn);
M: 1600 yds ww, (800 yds chunky yarn); L: 1800 yds ww (900 yds chunky yarn);
XL: 2000 yds ww, (1000 yds chunky yarn); 2XL: 2200 yds ww, (1100 yds chunky yarn);
3XL: 2400 yds ww, (1200 yds chunky yarn); 4XL: 2600 yds ww, (1300 yds chunky yarn)
5XL: 2800 yds ww, (1400 yds chunky yarn)
