A Fall of Leaves Socks
Showcase the glory of Autumn with a display of leaves on your feet! Or choose a green for Spring! Either way, enjoy the tumble of maple and oak leaves on these stranded colorwork socks.
Four Sizes:
Small - 64 sts (Medium - 68 sts, Large - 72 sts, XL – 76 sts)
Materials
Fingering weight sock yarn in 2 colors: (Yarn usage will vary depending on pattern size, leg length, and foot length. Designer used Hazel Knits Artisan Sock.)
- 60-75 grams main color (MC) – light solid recommended
- 35-40 grams contrast color (CC) – dark solid, tonal or lightly variegated recommended
US size 1 (2.25 mm) & size 1.5 (2.5 mm) circular needles (at least 32” but 40-47” recommended)
- Or sizes needed for fit - a larger needle (2.5 mm) may be necessary to get gauge in colorwork plus one size smaller for the ribbing, heel, and toe (2.25 mm). The pattern may also be worked entirely in one needle size.
- This pattern is written for magic loop but can be adapted to your preferred needle type – tips for other methods are given in the instructions.
Locking/removable stitch markers (4) & tapestry needle
Gauge
8-9 spi (stitches per inch) in 2-color stranded colorwork using larger needles
- At 9 spi, the sock will be 7.1” (7.5”, 8”, 8.4”) in circumference.
- At 8 spi, the sock will be 8” (8.5”, 9”, 9.5”) in circumference.
