This hat was literally born of a walk in Milan. One day as I was circling the Sforza Castle I spotted a lady wearing a nice hat in which the ribs on the border were extended and curved around each other. It was an industrial piece, but it got my juices going. My version is cabled, the ribs are abosorbed into the cables that create a tent-like shape topped with a spire that somewhat remind of the Milano Cathedral.
The hat is worked in the new version of Lanecardate HandKnitting Donegal, a very soft pure wool tweedy yarn. A single skein of the yar is enough for the full hat. I worked all of the cabling without cable needle, but feel free to use a cable needle if you prefer to do so.

Questo cappello è nato durante una passeggiata a Milano. Una mattina, dalle parti del Castello Sforzesco, ho visto una signora con addosso un cappello di fattura industriale in cui le coste del bordo si allungavano e curvavano l’una verso l’altra; ho iniziato a pensare come riprodurlo e farlo evolvere. La mia versione è a trecce, le coste vengono assorbite dalle treccie che si uniscono in una guglia, ricordando la forma del Duomo.
Il cappello usa la nuova versione di Donegal di Lanecardate HandKnitting, un morbidissimotweed in pura lana. Per realizzare il cappello è sufficiente un gomitolo di filato. Tutte le trecce sono state realizzate senza l’uso del ferretto, ma se preferite potete usare il ferretto per trecce.
