Inspired by a TV character (Sheriff Walt Longmire as he almost froze to death in Season One), this easy scarf is great TV knitting. Knit sideways in a simple slipped stich pattern, the design includes instructions for finishing as a scarf, infinity scarf, or neck warmer.

The stitch pattern looks best with a smooth yarn in a solid color color or with very subtle tonal variegation.

The sample is knit with one skein of Berocco Lustra but heavy worsted/aran substitutes abound. Or use a thinner yarn held double.

The first stitch in each of the pattern rows should be slipped purlwise; in Rows 1 and 3 of the stitch pattern, the yarn is slipped purlwise with the working yarn held in front.

This is a cosmetic difference; as long as you slip the edge stitches in a consistent manner, it will look fine.
