After The Rain features the same unique lace rips created by working lace inside short rows. The leafy lace inside this pattern is featured in another popular Softsweater Knits pattern, The Lonely Tree, a combination perfect for when the world starts to cool down and the leaves start to fall. The small of the concrete in Vancouver after the rains is one of the very best smells.

Yarn:

2 skeins of Sweet Fiber Canadian in colourway “Golden” or 416 yards (380 meters) of aran weight yarn.

Needles:

6mm (US 10) circular needles in at least a 24” (60cm) cord. Or whatever size needles it takes you to get gauge.

Notions:

Things to block your shawl with. And 15 stitch markers if you’d like to help keep track of the short rows.

Gauge:

12 stitches x 24 rows = 4” (10cm) square knit flat in garter stitch and blocked.

Size:

72” (183cm) along the wingspan of the shawl. 19” (48cm) at the deepest point.
